The Motion Weekly is a showcase of awe-inspiring short films, animation, incredible live-action, motion design, outstanding cinematography, and wicked cool experimental works. Premier Automne

The first short this week is from 9 years ago, but happened to recently stumble on it. The design is absolutely beautiful, and the story idea is excellent. Be sure to check out the "Making Of" feature, here.

Abel lives in the winter and Apolline lives in the summer. Isolated in their "natures", they never met each other. They are not even supposed to meet. So when Abel crosses the border and discovers Apolline, curiosity is overwhelming. Their encounter soon becomes more complicated than they could imagine. Both of them will have to learn compromise to protect the other...

Migrants

This second piece from a team of 5 students in the Pole 3D school in France, it focuses on a couple of current global issues, and is a compelling story. More than that, it is incredibly well made and just  downright beautiful!

5th year students 3D short movie directed by Hugo CABY, Antoine DUPRIEZ, Lucas LERMYTTE, Zoé DEVISE and Aubin KUBIAK

Two polar bears are driven into exile due to global warming. They will encounter brown bears along their journey, with whom they will try to cohabitate.

Garden Party

This next film is one I cannot believe I missed. The 3D animation is impeccable. And it's a pure joy to watch.

Garden Party is an Oscar-nominated short film animation that depicts a dark mystery slowly unraveling via the perspective of exotic frogs having a grand time in an opulent, but empty mansion. The most gorgeously realized independent 3D animation in years, this project from 6 students at France's acclaimed Ecole MoPa revels in the delightful play of the frogs, only to cleverly reveal the subtext of their frolic.

Hybrids

Coming back to global issues, this film's story arose from the problem affecting our oceans. Essentially, this film pictures sea life hybridized with human garbage, and it is an incredible watch. Another film I cannot believe I missed showcasing previously. Do check out the "Making Of" feature, here.
