Le Liens De Sang (Blood Ties)
The first short this week is a dark one, but so beautifully done. Lighting, design and color palette is just incredible. Must watch this one full-screen!
"In a family headed by a tyrannical father, the younger daughter will regain her freedom on her birthday ..."
Directed by: Sophie Kavouridis, Manon Lazzari, Marion Louw, Simon Pannetrat and Thomas Ricquier.
Music: Thomas Ricquier.
Mixing: Olivier Michelot.
Ten Degrees of Strange
This second piece is a music video with incredible clay on glass work. It is truly remarkable how Lynn Tomlinson was able to shift scenes so beautifully with this medium.

WINNER, Best Commissioned Animation, Ottawa International Animation Festival 2021
“Some animations leave even the seasoned animator wondering, “How did they do that?” For its masterful use of clay on glass, its elegant command over spatial transitions, and its rich portrayal of shifting perspectives and characters, the Jury awards the prize of Best Commissioned Film to Ten Degrees of Strange, a music video by Lynn Tomlinson, for Johnny Flynn and Robert Macfarlane.”

Sororelle / Sororal
This next piece boasts some real impressive stop motion work. It's a great story about 3 sisters getting the news that the sea will soon engulf the land they are living on and so they must go further inland to survive. Not wanting to leave their house, the 3 sisters deal with impending doom quite differently.
Great film, and again great stop motion! The puppets are fantastic, but check out the rolling waves...

1792 Untypical
This piece is a short advert for bourbon, but wow! The constant motion, the set-spinning, character design, the music, and colors! You'll want to watch this several times over.
1792 Untypical. from BlinkMyBrain on Vimeo.
Ariel Costa delivers an untypical spot for 1792 Bourbon that seamlessly delivers on their "Untypical" tagline. With his signature mixed-media-collage style, Ariel takes realistic elements and distorts them into a surreal world that flips the script on what a traditional whiskey spot can be. Say goodbye to gravelly-voiced, whiskey-in-the-woods, campfire provincialism. And hello to cosmopolitan collage, stylized storytelling, and a jazz-fueled journey into the "Untypical."
Thanks for watching!
