Our choice for the July 19, 2021, Artist of the Week is the Virtual World photographer NIMUE GREEN
We came across Nimue Green's Second Life photography via Cajsa Lilliehook, who has been covering Second Life photography for years, and James Au's New World Notes blog. Her work stands out from other SL photographers because of her excellent sense of poetry in her scenes, but also because she has a real gift for black & white composition. She is at home photographing architecture as she is with portraiture. And every image has a great sense of life. You feel her buildings are lived in; all of her female portraits are in a specific mood.
We asked Nimue Green to comment on her work and here's what she said:
"I'm not sure what I could say to be honest. I've never really talked about my work before haha, but I guess maybe something along the lines of trying to breathe life and light a spark of emotion into my art. Trying to show colour in a monochrome world and how colourful images are a delight to the eyes, but to me personally, the monochromatic speaks so much more to the soul."
We've chosen a dozen works from her beautiful Flickr gallery to feature in this video. If you'd like to see more of her wonderful photographs, click the button below.
