Unreal Engine Free Stuff April 2021

As every month, the Unreal Marketplace is offering some assets for free. If you are an Unreal Engine user, it is a good idea to keep an eye on the Marketplace every month, as there may be stuff you will like.

This month, we have a lot of animals and a nice house. Let’s take a look.

First, we have the Farm Animal Sounds, a collection of over 400 sound effects of various animals. If you are working on a game that requires animal sounds, even if you don’t need all of them, you should get this one.

Next, there’s LowPoly Cats, a set of low polygon cats with various animations. I am not a very big fan of some “low poly styles” and I wonder if you can “soften” the normals, but if you are working on a stylized low poly game, this might be useful to you.

Next, there’s the Animalia – German Sheperd M. It’s a realistic dog with a lot of different animations (so it can save you a lot of work). It also has support for the author’s gFur tool, a tool that lets you create fur for animals. However, you can also use Xgen to create fur for the dog, and use a material setup to make the fur pick the color from the dog’s body. The dog also includes a CAT rig, useful if you want to create more animations and are a 3D Studio Max user.

Back to stylized animals, we have the Animated Pond Fish. This is a stylized set that consists of a pond, some pond plants, an ornament and various fish. Again, if you are working on a stylized game, this may be useful to you. Besides, it fits the style of the LowPoly Cats set I described above.

And the last pack is the Modular House, a set that lets you create various house styles for your game. You can mix and match pieces to create various houses, to make your environments more visually appealing. You can even go inside the houses (they don’t include furniture or other elements) so you can seamlessly go from the exterior to the interior.

And that’s it for this month! To get the assets, you just need to go to the Unreal Marketplace and, under Free, click on Free For The Month.
