ActorCore and Limited Time Offer Free Motion Pack

By M.D. McCallum

Reallusion has released its ActorCore online mocap library at

In celebration of this new mocap library, they are giving away one of their Studio Mocap Series libraries called Spunky Moves with move, alone, and interaction motions.

To qualify for this limited time offer:

Here are 2 ways to get the $200 Value Spunky Moves FREE:

  1. If you are already a Reallusion iClone, Character Creator, Cartoon Animator purchase member, then you are automatically eligible to receive our Free Gift; the newly released “Spunky Moves” motion pack.
  2. ForActorCorenew members, purchase 10,000 DA points and instantly receive our Free Gift - “Spunky Moves” motion pack.

Reallusion describes the pack as follows:

All motions in this pack allow you to naturally blend your characters from idle, to walk, to jog and sit. In addition, you can direct them to chat, gossip, joke around and jam with each other.

ActorCore itself is an online library of quality motion capture that blends as described above but goes beyond the Reallusion family of products. This is targeted to users of other 3D packages like Maya, 3DS Max, Unreal Engine, Unity, MotionBuilder, Blender, and Cinema 4D.

Basically, they are opening up their high-quality, easy-to-blend mocap library for just about anyone that understands retargeting animation to other applications. I was fortunate enough to be given a sneak peek while it was under development and found the motions work well with 3DS Max and Unreal Engine.

Reallusion provided the necessary information on how to retarget my particular application and it was very easy to follow. It didn’t take long to have those animations up and running on a character that had nothing to do with Reallusion’s character pipeline or ecosphere.

This was a real treat as their online interface was easy to use, needing no explanation, just dive and start searching for motions. I was able to use single motions and complete libraries like work or combat-related motions with no problems.

Some of their industry themed motion packs include:

  • Business & Training
  • Archviz
  • Film
  • Game

From the actorcore website:

A specially designed motion system that ensures smooth transitions between primary and secondary stance modes. This system offers high flexibility for professional animation production, and interactive game character controls.

During the time I got to work with the, at that time, unnamed service I needed no help, had few questions, and was able to pretty much avoid the dreaded manual. Reallusion makes great manuals... I’m just too impatient... wanting to dive in but when I do... I learn a lot... almost like they planned it that way! Who really looks at a manual first???

I enjoyed my experience with the service and did not find it to be lacking for my usage. I have always enjoyed using their mocap series as it makes my work look a lot better than manual keyframing. Plus, and this is important... having those motions to go to allowed me to be more creative and less technical which improves keeps the creative juices flowing.

If you are looking for quality motion capture at prices that won’t break the bank then head over to and check it all out for yourself and you don’t have to buy an entire library if all you want are specific motions. At a glance, there were lots of great motions at $2.25.

A couple of bucks and some change can save a lot of time and aggravation on your next animation project.
