Motion Weekly 37

Nov 29, 2019 at 08:36 pm by nickcharles

The Motion Weekly is a showcase of awe-inspiring short films, animation and motion graphic works from around the web. Some pieces featured have been created by professional studios, while others may be personal works. May this weekly segment serve to inspire you.

Though my original goal with this segment was to specifically highlight motion graphics and animated short films, it had evolved to also showcase incredible live-action, outstanding cinematography, and wicked cool experimental works. It's all motion, it's all inspiring. So, take the time to kick back and have a look at some fantastic work being produced out there. And, if you like what you see in this segment, please share it.

NONE

This striking short film came together as a 'fun' project from two creatives, Ash Thorp and Chris Bjerre, between other work. The look and feel of this film is incredible...and eerie.

BEHIND THE SCENES

NONE is a short film that explores the balance of light and darkness.  It has a personal narrative which plays with the notion of finding yourself amidst the noise around you.

Nothing Happens

A crowd gathers as something is about to happen...yet never does. Though nothing really happens, I found this film very satisfying. Stylistically, it is brilliant...that painterly look I just adore. This film is part of a VR experience...see more here

It is freezing cold on the outskirts of town. Yet people gather. I watch them form a row across the horizon. We all wait for something to happen. However, nothing does…

NOTHING HAPPENS offers a new way of looking. It is about spectatorship - about watching and being watched. It is about being present.

Max Cooper - Circular

This audio-visual piece is a story about human obsession and the infinite (the circle). It shows this well with excellent photography and high speed frames...it is really mesmerizing.

Using the Circle as a symbol of an inescapable and never ending notion, I tried to evoke a feeling of the infinite, and the idea of a reoccurring and self made predicament...

OVERRUN

This short film follows an ant's journey through unfamiliar, unstable, and incredibly beautiful spaces, looking for a way out...but where is he? Visually stunning imagery throughout this short film, and amazing work on the ant character itself.

Plunging into a dark place, an ant falls to the ground with a rude shock.
We follow this ant's journey through a disturbing and dangerous, yet fascinating world, and it's quest to find a way out...
