If you are one of the unlucky few that ends up with the Reallusion Hub hang up… with all buttons grayed out then don’t fret. Follow some simple troubleshooting steps INCLUDING the obvious ones!
- Make sure your internet connection is working. Yeah… I know… but sometimes we miss the obvious.
- Make sure there is no security prompt requesting permission to install. Sometimes those get lost on cluttered taskbar… especially if you pin your main programs there. This update will ask several times depending on what products you have installed.
- RESTART the Reallusion Hub without rebooting. At least, I never had to.
- Make sure you aren’t smoking dope or so drunk you have no clue what you are doing and PLEASE stay off social media at times like this. These things never bode well for your resume.
I have installed this major update on two systems… my Dell XPS main work system and the Puget Systems workstation I am currently reviewing for the magazine.
BOTH computers stalled out and I had to restart the hub eventually on both systems. This solved the problem as it was stuck on iClone 7 both times like it was waiting for a switch to flip that never got flipped.
This could also have to do with selecting the UPDATE ALL which I did on both systems instead of clicking the buttons for iClone first or whatever. That is pure speculation on my part.
Again… the installation stalled on both computers at iClone 7. All the buttons were grayed out as if it was waiting for a security prompt to continue but search as I might… I never found an ignored security prompt.
I did download the Character Creator Resource pack before restarting the Hub on both occasions but I suspect that might not have anything to do with the problem.
If I remember right, we had this happen on an update before where the install went better in a certain order or you had to jump through a minor hoop or two. I did see a question about the Hub being stuck at the Reallusion forum, but it had no answer then and was before I updated my systems.
So, don’t panic. Just close the hub and make sure to exit it via the taskbar tray option then go to start menu, find Hub and start it. The download of iClone 7 should start as soon as everything connects then you are ready to finish remaining installs as they come up.
And yes… at least from my point of view… the upgrade is worth the minor hassle.
