Motion Weekly 34

The Motion Weekly is a showcase of awe-inspiring short films, animation and motion graphic works from around the web. Some pieces featured have been created by professional studios, while others may be personal works. May this weekly segment serve to inspire you.

Though my original goal with this segment was to specifically highlight motion graphics and animated short films, it had evolved to also showcase incredible live-action, outstanding cinematography, and wicked cool experimental works. It's all motion, it's all inspiring. So, take the time to kick back and have a look at some fantastic work being produced out there. And, if you like what you see in this segment, please share it.

Bless You! / Na Zdrowie!

With cold and flu season here, I found this excellent film fitting. Love the style of this piece that communicates well how much germs travel.

Warning: Contagious! Germs fly around wildly in the hustle and bustle of urban life. You stand next to the wrong nose, and it happens in a flash. You can even get a dose during an innocent flirt with your potential sweetheart. And what happens if you keep on infecting yourself?

Written and directed by: Paulina Ziolkowska
Produced by: The Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School
Editing: Piotr Baryla
Music: Max Litvinov (vimeo.com/kclogg)
Sound Design: Michal Wilczewski

(OO)

Imagine my luck with a second ill-fitting (pun intended) film this week! This piece some may find a bit gross, but it is incredibly well done, and I absolutely love the way it flows (guess a second pun was in order). As this was a Vimeo Staff Pick Premiere, there is a nice bit about the making of and inspiration for it here.

The happenings of someone's nostrils.

Killing Time

This is a cleverly written piece with beautiful visuals.

Loukoum can’t stand the passage of Time anymore. She decides to go face it in person and free herself from its control. But can you really get rid of Time itself?

Operator - Episode One

I love stop-motion, and I love horror, so this excellent piece by Sam Barnett was a bonus for me to find!

This sci-fi horror stop-motion web series is about a corporation that unleashes a plague of bio-mechanical parasites on its workers. The web series picks up where the short left off, following workers that escape the initial infection as they fight back against the company. Chaos grows as upper level employees turn against the company, the mastermind of the bio-mechanical parasites seeks to take control of the company, and everyone deals with the fallout of the Rhizomect system.
