Motion Weekly

The Motion Weekly is a showcase of awe-inspiring short films, animation and motion graphic works from around the web. Some pieces featured have been created by professional studios, while others may be personal works. May this weekly segment serve to inspire you.

Though my original goal with this segment was to specifically highlight motion graphics and animated short films, it had evolved to also showcase incredible live-action, outstanding cinematography, and wicked cool experimental works. It's all motion, it's all inspiring. So, take the time to kick back and have a look at some fantastic work being produced out there. And, if you like what you see in this segment, please share it.

Jack White - I'm Shakin'

I don't know how many times I've watched this video, but it still thrills me every time. Aside from an excellent cover song performed by Jack White, the filming and effective use of color is outstanding. The beautiful color-grading was done by Los Angeles-based 3DeltaFox.

In a Nutshell

Independent filmmaker, Fabio Friedli, created this brilliant, fast-paced stop-motion piece that attempts to capture the world in a nutshell. Because of the huge amount of things shown at such a fast pace, repeated viewing is recommended.

From a seed to war, from meat to love, from indifference to apocalypse. An attempt to capture the world in a nutshell.

De la graine à la guerre, de la chair à l’amour, de l’indifférence à la fin du monde. In a Nutshell - L’essai de comprendre le monde.

"In a Nutshell" is this week's Staff Pick Premiere! Read more about it here on the Vimeo Blog:

Oooh!! My Delicious Coffee

Love artistic creation with fluid mediums. This wonderful feast for the eyes was created with coffee, oil, and paint.

No FX, just shooting with coffee & paintings

"Oooh !! My Delicious Coffee" is an experimental dreamlike video rocking us smoothly through circular moves.
The visual compositions have been created out of paint, oil and Coffee.

AMKK Botanical Animation "Story of Flowers"

This is an exceptional 2D animation depicting the life of flowers. The detail and colors are outstanding.

AMKK Presents:
Botanical animation "Story of Flowers"

The animation was developed for kids to show the life cycle of flowers.

Many different flowers are growing beautifully and strongly in this world. Taking their roots in the earth, sprouting, blooming, pollination by birds and insects, living on in spite of rain, wind and storms. They pass on the baton of life, rebirth and decay. Everything is so in a continuous, endless cycle. This is the story and message of this animation.
