I think we often overlook the work of casual photographers. In fact, the word "casual" implies a lack of seriousness which, in turn, implies "amateur". I don't think this is true. Even a point-and-click photographer brings their imagination to whatever they shoot either consciously or sub-consciously. Such is the case with M.D. McCallum's "Taos, New Mexico" photograph. Part of a series of photos taken while on vacation in Taos, M.D. obviously wants the view to share the beauty of the landscape. But what comes across in this particular photo (my favorite) is a sense of mystery and poetry.

The framing of the shot is perfect with trees on either side. I also very much like the contrast between the sunny foreground and the misty, darker background. There is a depth to this photo that tells a story. Colors are perhaps a bit light, but there was no post-processing done so it's not an issue.
