The Book Forest by Pepa Cometa
And she went to the Book forest because everything was there...
Taken at "Library" by Cica Ghost.
If you want to know a bit more about her travels you can watch the video "Little Marie" here
Pepa Cometa is an unusual "street photographer" because she doesn't walk the street of the real world, but rather the avenues and walks in the virtual world of Second Life. The Book Forest is record of her journey to a remarkable Second Life creation called "Library" by Cica Ghost. If you have never been to Second Life (it's a free experience to travel there), it's a decade-old, online virtual world that has attracted millions of users. Some create art, some sell things, some provide services; it's an amazing place filled with poetic imagery and strange landscapes.
Pepa Cometa is a veteran Second Lifer and has been taking beautiful and compelling photos there for many years. What I like about her "Little Marie" series is that the photos are so reminiscent of American painters like Andrew Wyeth or Bev Jozwiak. Pepa's ability to find just the right framing for a location is masterful as is her sense of color and shape.
The Book Forest is only one of her outstanding photos taken in Second Life. You can find an archive of her work at her Flickr page or visit her Vimeo page where she shares her many machinima videos also created in Second Life. This artist is not as well known as she should be. Here at Renderosity Magazine we hope to change that.
