I paint my own reality. The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration.
Frida Kahlo (1907 - 1954)

Renderosity.com is a community of almost a million artists. It's been in existence for over 15 years and has so many galleries and forums (and archives) that it would take months to go through all of them. With the Art of Renderosity, we will be your guide to the people, ideas and artworks of Renderosity artists who "paint their own reality" as the artist Frida Kahlo so clearly puts it. We will show you artworks that will excite and interest you. We'll introduce you to artists who are off the beaten path and we will examine their ideas about making art in this media-soaked world we all share.
Appearing every other week, the AOR essay will be written by a variety of writers. In this way, we will bring you different perspectives, perhaps even contradictory ones, about how/why digital art is being made today.
Right now, it's possible to discover an artist, perhaps one at Renderosity, who works and creates completely outside of the mainstream. In fact, it's the rise of this outlier artist that has so enriched the general public's appreciation of art in the last decade. The public is now interested in not only big media productions but small, niche art. Art that reflects the Frida Kahlo quote opens this essay. It's art that is free from the predictable and the commonplace and that expresses the reality of the artist.
The old distinctions of hobbyist and professional are falling away. All kinds of people create simply because they want to express themselves. They create for the simple love of creating something original. Something that is meaningful to them. Rather, something that comes from how they look at the world and how they feel living in it.
Come and take this journey with us. The Art of Renderosity is about learning to see and think anew. It's about discovering and making art that is unique and entertaining.
The Art of Renderosity is really not about Renderosity at all, although many of the artists we will write about come from the Renderosity community. The Art of Renderosity is about you, and me and everyone who desires to create.
