Voyages by rustic01

Voyages by rustic01

From rustic01's bio at Renderosity.com:

I'm a Graphic Designer who became interested in 3D modelling and rendering as a means to visually realise ideas, themes, scenes and creations that have always been part of my psyche for as long as I can remember.

Sometimes these images are conceived as a result of particular dreams or just spontaneous random visions, imaginings or musings.

The images invariably have a strong Surrealist influence and will often feature unusual contrasting elements and settings which can be both disturbing and humorous at the same time.

I hope you enjoy these offerings from the world of digital art that I like to call Digital Dreams!

One immediately thinks of those great paintings by surrealist artist Rene Magritte. There's the businessman attire with a bowler hat and dark raincoat. Plus, the arrangement of the oversize figures in the normal size landscape that gives the scene an eerie quality that is marvelous. Just the effect the surrealists had in mind: pull the viewer out of their comfort zone slightly.

Voyages by rustic01 is a wonderful image that is more complex that it appears to be. The figures all have their backs to the viewer, which immediately creates a feeling of isolation or emotional upset. Why are they turned away from me? Plus, the ironic title (Voyages) gives a sense that there is some sort of journey taking place; but whose journey is it? The giant businessman figures are terrifying once you look at the image long enough.

It's also interesting that rustic1 has place the figures over some sort of water instead of a city scene. Another aspect of this beautifully crafted image that nags at you. And rustic01's gallery is filled with these weird, but affecting scenes. Some of them seem to be from dreams, others from nightmares.

Be sure to visit rustic01's gallery at Renderosity.com as there are many beautiful images in this talented artists gallery.
