The Meaning Behind "Lost Childhood"

While browsing on Renderosity's gallery, the image "Lost Childhood" popped out to me because I was interested in the title as well as the image itself. So, I decided to dig deeper into the meaning. I messaged member Bernie (bernieloehn) to find out more.

There was no real inspiration because in my area people use to put things that they find in the on good visible place. Possibly the owner might come back.

Here in Neuenheim that is Heidelberg's richest part of the city - downtown, next to the river Neckar and with large villas or Jugendstile buildings people even put baskets and cartons in the street with books about poetry, neurology, etc. with signs: 'Take it if you like it!'

What is the meaning behind this photo?

The meaning behind is the imagination that we all lose our childhood much too early nowadays and that we should try to keep it as long as possible or that we should better learn to again behave like children. They don't know anything about refugees, colored people or gay people. They only know to distinguish between nice people and not nice people. If one would ask a child: "Are there any refugees or colored people in your kindergarten?" The child would answer with a face that tells you that you must be crazy: "No, dad! There are children!"
