The "Guardians of the Galaxy" Movie Review

    Print

Last weekend, I made my way to the local theater to see "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2" with my husband. I saw the first one and my hubby is obsessed with the movie, so I figured, why not?

Compared to Volume 1, this film seemed to be more emotional. The viewer follows along as Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) tries to find his dad. You just want to crawl through the screen and tell him everything is going to work out. Along the way, he finds out who truly has his back and that's Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista) and Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper). Also, without giving too much away, just know that Yondu (Michael Rooker) sacrificed himself for Quill.

However, the cutest character in the film has to be Baby Groot, who displays baby tendencies, which are irresistible. You just want to scoop him up and kiss him.

According to Rottentomatoes.com - which gave this film an 81% - set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Marvel Studios' "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand.

This film is set to have the most joyous opening-credit action sequences in recent memory was born, according to the Chicago Tribune.

As the credits open, the audience watches as Baby Groot dances and is nonchalant as there's fighting the background. This involves motion-capture provided by Gunn's own sweet moves, says the site.

Team Gunn pieced together the dancing video clips into a single take, but that was just the start of the journey. "It took me 2 ½ years to do that shot," Gunn tells The Washington Post's Comic Riffs. "It was incredibly difficult."

So, if you're in the mood for lots of laughs and a good heartfelt movie, I'd strongly recommend this film. I promise, you won't be sorry!
