I'm always one for romantic comedies. I'm a hopeless romantic and I love watching couples fall in love. The bottom line is I'm a sucker for love.
However, when one of my friends told me about "Stranger Things," I was intrigued. It's considered a sci-fi, drama, fantasy and horror show. My friend went on to say, "the actors, writers and the fact that it takes place in the 80's is enough to hook you!" Therefore, I decided to listen to her and watch it for myself - along with my husband.
At first, it didn't fascinate me that much, but as I watched more and more episodes, I became addicted to this show, which premiered July 2016.
According to Rottentomatoes.com, A love letter to the '80s classics that captivated a generation, Stranger Things is set in 1983 Indiana, where a young boy vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.
Additionally, Rotten Tomatoes rated this show 95%, so it must be a darn good show! Not to mention, they say it's Exciting, heartbreaking, and sometimes scary, Stranger Things acts as an addictive homage to Spielberg films and vintage 1980s television.
Honestly, you would think so early in a child's career, they'd need some, well, practice in acting, but in this series, that's not the case whatsoever. These kids are spot-on and make you feel as if you're there searching for their friend, Will. You also feel the heartbreak and devastation from Will's mother as she tries various ways to find her son.
Seriously, if you're a fan of sci-fi, this is the show for you. It will leave you scared, wanting more and wondering when the next episode will be. Lucky for you, the first season is available on Netflix. The next season will premiere this Halloween.
I'm not going to give too much away because I don't want to spoil, but feel free to see for yourself!
