Here at Renderosity Magazine, we like to explore all kinds of unique things. Art, comics, movies, crafts; everything that is unique and unusual. This year we want to share with you some recommendations for very unusual Christmas Gifts from staff writers Michael Haase, Ricky Grove, and Nick Charles. You might be stuck trying to find that unique gift. Well, look no further we have 9 recommendations for gifts that you won't find anywhere else!

Staff Writer Michael Haas has been writing for Renderosity Magazine for over a year now. His articles, particularly on writing and the writing process, are always lively and interesting. Here Michael offers up 4 unique gift suggestions for the 2016 holiday season.

Aqua Notes

So many great epiphanies and ideas happen in one of the most inconvenient places-the shower. The solution is here, and it's Aqua Notes. It's a waterproof notepad and pen that you can scribble your idea for the next great American novel on while still paying attention to hygiene. At $7.00 a pad, it's a neat little gift for the creative person you know. Available on the Aqua Notes website and through Amazon.

Writer Emergency Pack

If you know and love a writer, then you can assume that they struggle for ideas sometimes. The Writer Emergency Pack was designed by creatives to help blast through any of that nasty writer's block. The cards are just plain fun, and the support for this deck is overwhelming. The idea was funded through Kickstarter and has been going strong ever since. Plus, they donate to young writer's programs with every purchase. $19.00/pack through the Writer Emergency website or through Amazon.

Scrivener

If you know a writer and you really love them, perhaps give them the gift of one of the most comprehensive manuscript composition tools available. Scrivener is a word processor, a note taker, an organizer, a creativity road map, and a tool that formats words into submission-ready novels, screenplays, and stage plays. It is a big chunk of valuable software that many writers think they can't afford...so why not get it for them and get their 2017 off to a great start? It is available for Mac and Windows (45.00) through the Scrivener website, and they have an app for the iPhone as well (19.99) that syncs quite nicely with the software for those ideas on the go.

Fountain Pen

If you insist on getting a writer something to write with, make it memorable. Unfortunately, the Molskine notebook idea happens quite a bit. So why not try out the other end of the exchange? Every writer wants a beautiful fountain pen, whether they admit it or not. Fountain pens are works of art, and they write wonderfully. There are plenty of fountain pen companies out there, and you can't go wrong with any choices in a quick google search, but the Goulet Pen Company makes fabulous fountain pens.

Ricky Grove, managing editor at Renderosity.com and co-editor here at Renderosity Magazine, loves the weird and unusual. Here are his 4 suggestions for that very unusual gift this Christmas season.

Parcel of Terror Subscription Box

Prepare yourself to receive a "Parcel of Terror" every month containing an assortment of handmade items that represent the horror genre in all its forms. From Lovecraft to Slasher Flicks you can expect a wide diversity of ghoulish goodies in each box!

We separate ourselves from other monthly subscription boxes by offering a truly exclusive experience. Everything is handmade specifically for the "Parcel of Terror" so you won't be able to get this stuff anywhere else!

Something Weird Video

If you have that weird uncle or new hipster, Something Weird Video is where the great 30's to 60's exploitation films reside. I've been a fan for over 30 years now and this company, started by the late Mike Vraney, has never let me down. They have a special sale of 10 DVD's for $87 postpaid (doesn't include the more fancy Image DVD's which are great as well). It's a good way to get started into the cinematic sewer. Believe me, you'll like the people down there!

Most of the videos are rather risque, but not pornography. As they say on the site, "for mature adults". I'd only add to that "who want to laugh until their sides split".

Palomino Blackwing 602 Pencils

Funny that Michael recommends fountain pens and I recommend pencils! For the pencil fetishist, these Blackwing 602's are the bomb. Seriously good pencils that can be used for sketching or writing or poking things. I love pencils.com, too. Right now they are having a sale for $21.95 you get a sweet 12 pack of these Blackwing babies.

The iconic Blackwing 602 that once commanded up to $40/pencil and was favored by famous writers like John Steinbeck is back. The Palomino Blackwing 602 features a firm and smooth graphite core that is ideal for writers and everyday users who don't like to sharpen often. Includes Blackwing's signature extendable eraser and unique ferrule design. Inspired by the past, made for the writers of tomorrow. Each box contains 12 firm and smooth premium graphite pencils, crafted from Genuine Incense-cedar

Two Dollar Radio Books

I love Two Dollar Radio and buy half a dozen books from them every year. They always have the most cutting edge fiction. The kinds of things you won't find in most bookstores. I've discovered one of my favorite authors there: Grace Krilanovich who wrote "The Orange Eats Creeps", an incredibly surreal story of teens in Seattle running wild. She even created a music list to read the book by on her youtube channel. And there are dozens of great, original authors being published by Two Dollar Radio. They have awesome t-shirts as well!

Two Dollar Radio is a family-run outfit founded in 2005 with the mission to reaffirm the cultural and artistic spirit of the publishing industry. We aim to do this by presenting bold works of literary merit, each book, individually and collectively, providing a sonic progression that we believe to be too loud to ignore.

5 FOR 50 SALE. FIVE BOOKS FOR $ 50.00

Nick Charles has been around Renderosity for as long as anyone can remember. Former managing editor, father and great guitar player, Nick offers up his recommendation for those who like to sculpt!

Super Sculpey

Do you know a sculptor, or someone who would be interested in the joys of sculpting? There are many types of clay out there, and I've tried a few. The one I've settled on is Super Sculpey, a polymer clay. It is easy to work with and great for holding fine details. Once conditioned, it stays soft until baked in the oven. This particular clay only comes in a semi-translucent beige, but can be mixed with Premo or Sculpey III clays to change the color. I usually finish baked pieces with acrylic paints and a clear glaze.

Though I mainly just use my fingers and a paper clip to sculpt, sometimes I need a more specialized tool. This Sculpey 5-in-1 Tool Kit is perfect, with five interchangeable heads, including: two flexible shapers, a blade, a pin tool, and metal ball end. The two flexible shapers are the real prize in this pack. Especially when working with fine details, a soft edge is a godsend, and I was ecstatic at the time I found this set.
