Stacy Avila (kaleya): "I love the idea that I can create anything that I can imagine and bring it to life"

I decided to have a chat with Vendor Stacy Avila (kaleya) about her artistic background. You never really get to talk to them exclusively-- other than by way of their art, so I figured I'd do a Q & A with some of them and see their thoughts on art.
What brought you to Renderosity?
I actually found Renderosity via an art forum I used to frequent that was dedicated to making signature tags and art for an MMO I was playing at the time called Everquest. People there were using poser 4 to make their images and I was immediately intrigued by it so I went looking for it. I played with the demo a bit and I was hooked so I went looking for 3d content and someone on the forum suggested Renderosity.
How has art changed your life?
I have always loved to paint and draw. I never thought I could make a career out of art but I decided to attended college and work toward an art degree. It really did change my life. It gave me confidence I did not have before and the courage to share my images and art with other people. It also gave me the opportunity to take the time to really learn the basic principles of drawing. It gave me opportunities I would not have had if I had not pursued that degree.
What is it about art that you love?
It is something that relaxes me and brings me inner peace. I love the idea that I can create anything that I can imagine and bring it to life.
Would you consider yourself more of a hobbyist?
I do not consider myself a hobbyist anymore. I have been creating 3d content for 10 years now and I have learned and grown a lot since I uploaded that first texture package to Renderosity.
What does art mean to you?
Art to me is magical. It can take you anywhere your imagination desires. It can make you feel joy, or sadness, love, hate and everything in between. It is a journey and in discovering art, you often discover something about yourself.
I cannot imagine a world without artistic expression. It is something that all of us need.
Even if you do not believe you are artistic just the process of letting your imagination and emotions out onto a canvas be it 3d or any other is really cathartic and it doesn't matter if anyone else loves what you have made, all that matters is that you love it.
How did you become so passionate about art and why?
