My gallery is about telling stories through word and image. The characters change, the plot shifts, and you never know what story is next. -Wolfenshire
Adobe Photoshop is a genius application. As an artist who uses the software every day, I can honestly tell you that when someone creates a stunning work of art in Photoshop, I have a very deep appreciation of the hard work that goes into making it.
With Wolfenshire's Lakeside, I am impressed with his skill in using Photoshop. His specialty is fantasy-themed works, especially using silhouettes. There's a whole cycle of images which feature this young boy (a self portrait?) in various spectacularly beautiful locations just enjoying himself. And I think that's one of the things I like about Lakeside: even though the image is fanciful and fantastic, it is also quite detailed. Using a realistic setting for a fantasy theme is a great idea.
I also very much enjoy the sky in Lakeside. Having traveled to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and spent the night, I can assure you that the sky in Lakeside is quite accurate: it is filled to the brim with stars. The way they are presented seem so familiar to me. And the mood the mass of stars creates is one I've experienced myself: lazy, open to the world, pensive and above all, happy!
Lakeside is a wonderful image one that appears to come out of the personal experience of the artist. And that makes it a work of art as far as I'm concerned.
Be sure to visit Wolfenshire's Renderosity Gallery as it's filled with wonderful, evocative work. What a great artist!
