Fleurs de Vie -1 by MagikUnicorn

Fractal art has always fascinated me. It's like instant surrealism. For sure, Andre Breton and his pack of crazies would have gone wild over fractals. There's also something vaguely Rorschach about fractal art as sections of the images mirror each other.

MagikUnicorn, a great Renderosity artist, creates a wide variety of fractal art pieces. This piece, in particular, appealed to me because it reminded me of the great Alphonse Mucha, the Czech artist. The color pallete is Art Nouveau, which is unusual because most fractal art pieces I've seen have strong, bold and often psychedelic colors. The fact that this image is created using pastels actually softens the abstract lines and, ironically, makes the images all the more abstract.

Beautiful abstract art like this is particularly hard to make especially as a fractal art piece. The shapes are balanced so perfectly and the colors are so wonderfully contrasting, but still have a muted quality that makes it look a bit like stained glass.

Abstract art is also interesting to me because it encourages a variety of interpretations. Of course, the artist makes it clearer by titling the piece, "Fleurs de Vie" (flowers of life). Still, I see all kinds of things in this piece. MagikUnicorn is a real master at creating this kind of art.

Be sure to stop by MagikUnicorn's gallery for more beautiful pieces like Fleurs de Vie -1.
