Finally AI for good: Photoshop previews AI Select Tool

Select Subject. Just one click.
Let those words sink in because finally... life might be getting a little easier for some of us... thanks to Adobe and their new Artificial Intelligence (AI) based selection tool they've teased in a video sneak peek.
If you are a graphics artist and use Photoshop, chances are you have struggled with one of the most tedious aspects of the application. Masking, cutting or otherwise isolating a single object or group of objects for use in a composition. While getting easier, this is still a major time consumer and in some cases a stumbling block for some users. Many a hair has been pulled and many a choice word spoken during this process. Slamming the mouse down in frustration doesn't really help either.
Photoshop Project Manager Payne Stotzner brings us a little relief with a quick look at this new and exciting power tool that sounds almost too good to be true. From the time it hit my inbox to the end of the one minute and 48 second clip I was a total fanboy of the concept.
It looks like it's the easy button of selection. One click is a bold claim and something I can't wait to experience. Its availability in the Select and Mask workspace gives us the tools, at our fingertips, to refine the edges and tweak the selection for a more professional output in one convenient location. While only one minute and forty-eight seconds this video packs a lot of excitement for those of us that crave... no... need that type of tool.
It has taken 21st Century technology to get where we are in Photoshop and we all know that improvements along the way have shaped a tool that makes us look good. That is important and just as important are new tools and methods of achieving similar or better results. One comment on the video was begging for Adobe to Please stop making Photoshop easier but that is exactly what we all want so we can share our creative visions with others while reducing wasted, possibly non-billable, time for commercial users.
All we know at present is the tool will be released in an upcoming update to Photoshop CC. I have a feeling its going be an insufferable wait if it doesn't happen soon. Some of us need this tool... yesterday!
Finally... AI for good. It still might take over the world and eliminate humanity but at least it will be able to cleanly select an image of Elon Musk when the purge starts.
