The Motion Weekly is a showcase of awe-inspiring short films, animation and motion graphic works from around the web. Some pieces featured have been created by professional studios, while others may be personal works. May this weekly segment serve to inspire you.
What Is Motion Design?
This piece comes from the team at Motion Plus Design, and does an excellent job of explaining what Motion Design is, how it started, and since evolved. The Motion Plus Design team is hard at work on creating an exhibition center dedicated exclusively to Motion Design.
"Motion Plus Design" is a project which aims to create the first exhibition center dedicated to Motion Design in Paris, france. This is a non-profit project. Students, professionals and anyone interested could discover artists, meet and learn. This centre will also provide an opportunity to promote artists in other design departments so the different graphic design worlds could cross. To make it real we need your support! The more we are, the more the project's got chances to exist!

A fascinating short film about artistic creation and experimentation that has been 3 years in the making. Equally interesting is the inspiration and process behind this piece, which can be seen in the Breakdown video.
Void is a meditation on the psychology of the creative mind and the choices we face when we create.
Originally a labour of love, then shelved as a horrible failure and now reborn as an odd remix of old and new. It has been an ongoing project for almost 3 years which I have abandoned and restarted many times.
When returning to the piece after not working on it for months, I would often reevaluate everything and start over. A vicious cycle where everything would look dated when I was ready to put in the time. My struggle with being satisfied with the creative eventually became the common thread for the short.
The art of creation can be as frustrating as it can be rewarding, and maybe it has to be a bit of both. Pure and raw creativity goes a long way but self-editing is just as important and far more difficult in my mind.
This project is like a stream of conscious inspired by the things and the art I find aesthetically pleasing. Through a string of creative scenarios we slowly make our way from the light and into the darkness.

YL - Pioneers
The YL Male Voice Choir was originally the choir of the Helsinki University in Finland, which is now no longer strictly tied to the University. This beautiful short film from Anima Boutique presents a history of the YL.
This short film opens the YL male voice choir's "Journey" concerts and doubles as their introduction film in their online communication.
YL has a long history of work with many legendary Finnish composers - most notably Jean Sibelius - but today they're also interpreters of more contemporary choir music. The challenge we faced was capturing this scale and history in a 2 minute short. Our solution was to turn it into a poetic piece that pays tribute to classic Finnish poster design and the golden age of Finnish art.
