I work alone. I'm my own boss. This has a lot of advantages, but also some problems. One of them is organizing and task management. I'm a visual artist, so I like flashy, colorful things. And for a long time I tried to find a tool that would help me manage my tasks, projects and to-dos that was as complete and complex as possible. By trying different ones, I invariably ended up getting lost on the cards, the color labels, the images, the stickers... so much so, that it took me a lot of time just to use the tool, taking away from my goal to make my work life easier.
I kept looking, until one day I found WorkFlowy. At first, I thought it was going to be too stark for me, but I soon realized that it was exactly what I needed. Not flashy, just super simple, and yet very powerful.
WorkFlowy is like a notebook for lists. It's a tool that looks a lot like a blank page, and you make bullet lists. Nothing much to it. But then, you start using it and realize that with all its simplicity, you get just the right features to let you work without it getting in the way.
Have a quick look at how it works:
You can permanently have the shortcuts on display until you're familiar with them, and believe me, they are so very useful!
I write my to-dos for my different projects, household management, even grocery shopping. I also use it to list my ideas as they come by, and I place them inside their broad categories like Video, Website, Art, Crafts, Articles. Then, I describe or write notes inside them and even place web links if I need them for any kind of reference. I use tags like #WIP to keep track of all the things I'm currently working on for all categories, or #1st when I need to prioritize.
When I complete a task or manage to buy one of the things on the list, I mark it complete. When I'm energized and don't want clutter, I set the complete stuff to disappear. When I feel down and like I never do enough, I set the completed bullets to remain visible, but with a strikethrough.
WorkFlowy is free to use with 250 monthly items, and you get the opportunity to expand those if you refer people. It comes as an app for the Chrome browser, or for Android and IPhone. A fully offline desktop version is also being developed.
I don't use the Pro version, but if I did, I'd even get to choose different fonts and themes, along with other perks.
