The moody sunset photo is a cliche. Everyone see's a gorgeous sunset and tries to capture it's beauty using cameras of all kinds. It takes a poet, however, to transcend the cliche and create a work of art. Perhaps it's in the framing of December Dusk that makes it so remarkable. Upper and lower color tones separated by the back-lit arms of a leafless tree contrast the moody reds and purples. I like the shape of the color (a V) which gives the tree a kind of sentient life. The entire photo is beautifully rendered and composed.
