AppUpdates: Adobe, Autodesk make Forbes Top Innovative companies

Earlier this week, Forbes announced its annual list of the "World's Most Innovative Companies" and two CG companies made the top 15.

Coming in at No. 14 and No. 15 respectively, Adobe and Autodesk made the list, which was topped by Salesforce.com, Telsa and Amazon.

Forbes ranked the companies using their 12-month sales growth and "by their innovation premium: the difference between their market capitalization and the net present value of cash flows from existing businesses," according to the article.

Autodesk gives Cloud Rights to 3ds Max, Maya subscriptions

Starting Aug. 30, subscriptions to 3ds Max and Maya will include Cloud Rights, Autodesk announced.

Cloud Rights allow subscribers to take advantage of computing resources on the cloud with the ability to run non-UI batch instances of 3ds Max and Maya on individual or multiple computers over the internet, Autodesk said in the release notes.

Local processing can take up much-needed network resources, while the cloud offers users a range of options to scale productions when required. The Cloud Rights subscription benefit provides customers with added pipeline flexibility to process computing-intensive tasks on the cloud, such as rendering, simulations or caching.

Twitch makes developers happy

First Twitch announced a "Developer Platform Reveal" for a suite of new tools and products for developers and creators.

The special announcement is set for Aug. 31. Access is limited to the in-person event; but, it will be broadcast live on twitch.tv/twitchdev.

In the past week, Twitch also announced Developer Day at TwitchCon.

Oct. 19 is a day dedicated to helping game creators and stream-tool developers build their businesses in one of the largest and most engaged communities in the world.

Attendees will get a chance to look under the hood at the new Twitch API, hear from game developers about best practices in building engaged communities and discover new ways to deliver unique player and viewer experiences throughout the game lifecycle by using solutions from Twitch and Amazon Game Services.
